Just an update to the pepakura project. I had to resize all the parts for my body since the parts made straight from the templates are for my height but that was it, so having to add more to the width. Trying to resize/make at least 1 part each week.

They are on a few websites, not many I am afraid. TheRPF.com is the easiest place to get them. I don't know the scale to be honest, but I know I had a heck of a time getting mine sized correctly for me. I normally had to make them too big and then alter it as needed. Glad I finally got it right for the most part and hope to have the outer pieces completely done and painted this week. Then on to the undersuit and gloves and hope temps are not going to get too cold for me to finish them.

Just put up a pic. of the finished outer pieces. I just need to add some hinges and attachments to a few pieces then add the sole to the shoes and then will be done. Next up casting my arms so I can sculpt gloves before temps are too cold to use latex at all.

Side note, when you decide to do the pepakura. I noticed the biggest flaw in the look of the suit (and I did not catch in time) is the panel on the back of the lower leg. The pattern has a boxy piece but it should not stick out very far and then blend into the leg. I won't have time to correct it before my convention, but I will take care of it later on since those pieces are only being held on by bondo. Few other smaller details, but nothing as bad as that in my opinion. Good part is, how many people really see or notice the back lower leg of the cyberman when watching the show?

The pattern is a Pepakura file. It can be found on a few websites, but the easiest one to find it is the Cyberman Builders Group [link]
A few of us working on cybermen suits are on facebook and welcome others to join us. Listed under Cyber Legion (www.facebook.com/cyberlegion)

If you decide to try it, I advise you look up tutorials on how to use the Pepakura program and sizing because I am running into plenty of sizing issues for this suit, but working through them. There is also a file for the back of the voice changer helmet to, so most folks use that helmet and just strip it down, fill it, scuff, repaint, etc.

Wow, that's quite the effort. I'll feature your WIP picture in the next weekly DWI blog at #Doctor-Whovians! :)

And how sturdy is this thing and how large do the templates need to print out? Because at most I just have a normal printer- and it's not even working anyways. :P

I would say each pieces run between 12-20 pages if I had to guess. I ran mine off a few months back and just got back into it this past week. It is printed on heavy card stock from a regular printer. I believe it is 110lb card stock. It runs about $12.00 for a ream of paper. One ream should cover a full suit if there are not too many misprints, etc. Once you have it printing, you just match the numbers like a jigsaw puzzle.
Once it is all glued together (and fits you, after any additional adjustments) then you have a few choices on hardening it. You can fiberglass the paper or if you live in a cold climate and no way to fiberglass or don't like the fumes, you can use a 2-part plastic called Smooth Cast 320 or 321. I use both because of the different drying times. Once either of those methods are done, you can just prime and paint. The plastic takes a several coats, but is almost as hard as fiberglass.
I am about 1/2 done with the upper right arm. I should finish it tomorrow and then I will start on the undersuit. I don't know if my ideas for it will work, but I am going to keep my fingers crossed. If I can get the undersuit done this weekend or over the next week, I will use the Smooth Cast next weekend on most of the pieces to start hardening them and fixing the small details I left off the Pepakura folds because they are honestly too much of a pain for me and figure I can add them just before the plastic stage.
If my estimates and ideas work for the undersuit, I will say building this suit has been a bargain price wise. But I won't say that officially until I am done since I have to correct mistakes. I also have some plans that will be added to make it over the top but they won't be added until the suit is done really.
Hope this helps.

Oh that does! Wow that's a long and detailed process. I don't think I have the time to do that. Especially since I haven't even finished my Dalek build. I can't wait to see your finished product though- it's going to be awesome, I know it. :)
